The Basement
Opened in April in the space downstairs from the Graveyard Tavern, the Basement is East Atlanta Village’s newest concert venue, with space for over 300 music-lovers. It’s already attracted some of Atlanta’s coolest indie bands, including hip scenesters such as Gringo Star and Judi Chicago. Upcoming shows include Bang Bang Kitty (Sept. 9) and Hot&Sticky (Sept. 15). (09/2011)

The Sound Table

Open since February in a Mechanicsville space that was formerly a church dating back to the 1800s, this 15,000-square-foot, threelevel, five-bar club is vying to be Atlanta’s hottest nightspot. IMPROV! The Musical
If the Glee kids grew up and trained at Second City, they might create a show like this irreverent, improvised musical. Performers get three title suggestions, let the audience choose which they want to see, then unveil 50 minutes of hilariously unscripted singing, dancing and acting.
