James’ Salt Water Taffy
This local chain has three locations in Atlantic City, and two south of the resort, but this spot on the historic Boardwalk takes the cake—or make that the taffy. Featured in HBO’s Prohibition-era series Boardwalk Empire, this age-old Jersey shore business is run by fifth generation candy-makers and features hand-made chocolate covered pretzels, fudge, macaroons and a variety of other snacks and treats. HISTORIC ABSECON LIGHTHOUSE

Believe it Or Not! Odditorium
This wacky attraction pays tribute, in its own way, to the oddities that once graced the resort’s famed boardwalk. The Odditorium, which looks like it is about to be destroyed by a giant wrecking ball, offers visitors the chance to witness extreme weirdness, such as a lock of George Washington’s hair and a 27-room miniature wooden castle. White House Sub Shop
For the first time in its 65 years, this world-famous Atlantic City institution, a must on most visitors’ itineraries, has branched out from its single location at the corner of Arctic and Mississippi avenues. Make sure to try either the Italian or cheesesteak sub. This second location of hiphop mogul Jay-Z’s popular New York City sports-themed club and lounge is nearly as celebrity-studded as the original. It offers much more than just strategically placed plasma TVs showing the night's full gamut of sporting events; there is also a fantastic food menu, excellent cocktails, private rooms and seating areas, hip-hop dance parties, and the real possibility of running into Beyoncé—or at least Allen Iverson.
