There’s a black tie, pre-theater gala, a lively post-show street party and sixteen opening night performances at various theaters including the Irish Classical Theatre Company’s “La Bête,” a Molière-inspired comedy.   • Sensory Crossovers: Synesthesia in American Art

    Famed Western New York watercolorist—and the museum's namesake—Charles Burchfield is one of the 20thcentury masters featured in this exhibit, which explores the phenomenon of synesthesia, “the capacity to see sounds or hear colors.” Other artists represented include Arthur Stella, Georgia O’Keeffe and Max Weber.   • Just Buffalo Literary Center presents Babel

  • Our Lady of Victory National Shrine and Basilica

    This opulent church, with its imposing, 165-foot-tall copper dome (second in height to only the US Capitol dome when it was built in 1921), lords over blue-collar Lackawanna. The inside is even more impressive, with stained-glass windows, rare marble sculptures, bright ceiling murals and a grotto made of lava rock from Italy’s Mount Versuvius. (03/2011)

  • THEODORE ROOSEVELT INAUGURAL NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

    The Wilcox mansion is where Theodore Roosevelt, in borrowed pants, was inaugurated as America’s president—after McKinley was assassinated at Buffalo’s 1901 Pan-American Exposition.   • FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT’S FONTANA BOATHOUSE
