Heritage Towers Museum and Culture Center
Authentic bronze sculptures, ivory ornaments and other artifacts demonstrate the artistry of ancient African cultures, while other exhibits trace the Africa-to-America experience, including rural African life, slave auctions, the Underground Railroad days and working in West Virginia coal mines. CRIEL MOUND
This 35-foot-tall mound, built approximately 2,000 years ago by the Adena peoples, contained bones, ancient jewelry, weapons and the remains of a headdress. Visitors can learn the history of the Adena at a nearby interpretive center. (9/2011)
