Reynoldsburg Tomato Festival
Reynoldsburg proudly claims to be the “birthplace of the commercial tomato.” At this annual summer fest, sip on free tomato juice, listen to local singers and marvel at the unfortunate specimen that wins the “most oddly formed tomato” contest—one of many tomato-related competitions. Dublin Kiwanis Annual Frog Jump
More than 4,000 kids enter their amphibious friends in races on an afternoon that's hopping with ice cream, funnel cakes, giant slides, inflatable rides and a dunk tank. All proceeds go to charity. June 25. (06/2011)

Sesquicentennial Tree Planting & Civil War Commemoration
Ohio leaders—accompanied by Gen. Grant and President Lincoln re-enactors—will plant a tree for the 150th anniversary of the Ohio Statehouse. To conclude the event, Battery A will fire the Ohio Statehouse cannon (don’t worry—it’ll be blanks) to mark the outbreak of the Civil War, which began on this day in 1861. April 12. (04/2011)

Early Television Museum
TV junkies can go way back to the source at this museum, home to sets from the 1920s, rare ’30s British televisions and early color sets from 1953-57—many of which still work. COMPLAINTS CHOIR
This video exhibition is comprised of central Ohio’s complaints, submitted by the public and put to music by local musician David Holm. The choir, which is a worldwide phenomenon that began in Finland, is inspired by the Finnish term “Valituskuoro,” meaning “complaints choir.” Through Jan. 16. (01/2011)
