HISTORIC FORT WAYNE

This Civil War-era fort was built in 1845 as a new artillery post to protect the US against possible attacks from British Canada. Today, visitors can see re-enactors and the National Museum of the Tuskegee Airmen (hours by appointment; 313-843-8849).(03/2009)
