  • Racine Art Museum

    Most people don’t realize this darling museum is home to one of the nation's most significant contemporary craft collections, with more than 5,000 works. Racine is home to well-known Frank Lloyd Wright works (including Taliesin), but if you don't have time to visit them, check out The Wright Stuff: Artists Respond to Frank Lloyd Wright (May 29 to Aug. 7).   • Dinosaur Discovery Museum

    No bones about it, this little museum offers fascinating exhibits for budding paleontologists, including the most meat-eating dinosaurs displayed in a single museum, including nine not seen anywhere else. Admission is free, but dino digs and other activities cost extra. (05/2011)

  • Kenosha Public Museum

    This little gem of a museum combines exhibits of fine art and natural sciences. Be sure to check out its mammoth exhibits; both specimens, including the largest and most complete in the world, were discovered less than 30 miles away, on neighboring farms.   • Oak Leaf Trail

    As the snow melts and the pavement dries, it’s time to get out your walking shoes and bikes. Oak Leaf Trail is actually 100 miles of paths made up of dirt trails, park drives and some streets, all of which highlights the city’s natural beauty. One great starting point is the intersection of E Russell Ave and Lincoln Memorial Drive; take this paved trail south along the lakefront to enjoy views of both the lake and skyline. (03/2011)
