As a memorial to John Lennon, who was shot and killed at the nearby Dakota apartment building, this grotto-filled section of Central Park was named for the Beatles song “Strawberry Fields Forever.” The famous Imagine mosaic lies near the center of the area and is often covered with flowers from fans.
