In 1539, Hernando de Soto became the first official tourist to visit much of the Sarasota/ Bradenton area (without the benefits of sunscreen or bug spray). Catch a reenactment of his first steps in Florida at the memorial’s living history museum, Camp Uzita. (03/2010)
