HOUSE OF THE TEMPLE

The headquarters of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction, this Masonic temple modeled by John Russell Pope after the Mausoleum of Maussollos (one of the Seven Wonders of the World) was dedicated in 1915. The temple holds ornate hieroglyphics, the remains of famous masons, and more than 250,000 Masonic books and minutes.(11/2008)
