Hollywood in a Heartbeat

IN HONOR OF VALENTINE'S DAY, RE-CREATE YOUR FAVORITE ROMANTIC MOVIE SCENES ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

NEW YORK

Are you urbane, intellectual and more than a little neurotic? Then Woody Allen's Manhattan (1979) is for you. Take your main squeeze to the Queensboro Bridge at 59th Street in Manhattan, where-like Isaac and Mary-you can discuss love and philosophy all through the night.

CHARLESTON, SC

An old-fashioned tale of summer love, The Notebook (2004) is considered by some to be a modern classic. Take your honey to Boone Hall Plantation in nearby Mt. Pleasant, which served as Allie's house during filming, or explore romantic Cypress Garden in Moncks Corner, the setting of the boat scene.

SAN FRANCISCO

A sassy septuagenarian and a mopey teenager made the ultimate odd couple in Harold and Maude (1971). Modern-day valentines (unlikely or not) can rent a motorcycle and head to San Francisco's Sutro Baths ruins or the salt flats in nearby Emervyille, CA; most of the movie was filmed in the Bay Area.

CHICAGO

One of the most popular rom-coms of the '90s, My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) was filmed largely in Chicago. Take a Chicago Architecture Foundation boat tour (the same one featured in the film), or head to the Cuneo Museum & Gardens in nearby Vernon Hills to see the real-life locale of the bouquet scene.
