Tea has been a city tradition since 1773, when the leaves were dumped in the harbor to protest British taxes. Today, teatime is a respite from the day's hustle and bustle. Local food blogger Jacqueline Church reveals the best places to sip a cuppa.
1. PARK PLAZA
Home to Cynthia Gold, one of the only tea sommeliers in the world. Her free, seasonal class Tea 101 teaches proper preparation.
2. MANDARIN ORIENTAL
Opt for the original menu over the specialized New England menu both for its variety and delicate pastries.
3. THE FOUR SEASONS
Teatime begins with a kir royale and includes all the traditional goodies: scones, sandwiches and Devonshire cream.
4. THE RITZ-CARLTON BOSTON
Parents can treat their ladies- (or gentlemen-) in-training to the Little Duckling service, with hot cocoa, cookies and PB&J.
