Street Scene: Atlanta

THE REVITALIZED INMAN PARK NEIGHBORHOOD may be far from Riccardo Ullio's birthplace of Milan, but the area sure feels like home. For the last 10 years, this talented chef has manned the kitchen at Sotto Sotto (meaning "hush hush"), a classy Italian eatery on North Highland Avenue, the area's main thoroughfare. (Sister restaurant Fritti, a casual pizza joint, opened next door in 2000.) "We really started the renaissance of Inman Park and the retail district," he says. Here, the man who started it all reveals his favorite spots on Highland Avenue.*

3 INMAN PER
K 240 N HIGHLAND AVE, STE H
"This cool coffee shop is one of those student-y, bring-your-computer-and-not-talk-to-anyone-while-you drink-your-cappuccino sort of places." www.inmanperkcoffee.com
4 HIGHLAND CIGAR COMPANY

6 SOTTO SOTTO

"The standout on our fall menu is the Granny Smith apple-and-sausage ravioli with brown butter and sage. And for dessert, the chocolate soup, of course. You can't go wrong with hot chocolate and hazelnut - a classic gianduia combination." www.sottosottorestaurant.com
* Ullio also made us promise to mention the guided walking tours, which highlight the historic architecture. "It's a really signifi-cant part of the neighborhood," he says. Tours are available through the Atlanta Preservation Center ( www.preserveatlanta.com).
