This Brazilian DJane knows how to turn night into day. Epitomizing the authentic all-black look favored by many New Yorkers, she looks rock ‘n’ roll chic, from her vintage leather jacket and skinny J-Brand jeans down to her precisely distressed Sam Edelman boots. A vintage lace sweater from Tokyo 7 (83 E 7th St; 212-3538443) and accessories like classic Ray-Ban Wayfarers and a chain-link Chanel bag finish the look.“I trust my own taste, do my own thing,” she says. “My look is very New York. It’s rare to see me in color; [my friends] would send me back home.”

Not everyone can pull off animal prints, but this Australian model does it and manages to pair it with a fur vest without getting lost in the various patterns and materials. Expertly mixing high-end and low-end, rocker and girly, from her studded, edgy Alexander Wang bag and Current/Elliott leopard jeans to her Uniqlo sweater, this girl represents the New Yorker’s thriftiness and love for mixing it up. Adding heavy ROC boots and a soft vintage Adrienne Landau fur vest is the cherry on top of this daring ensemble.

“I’m casual, and avoid being hipster or trendy,” this Oliver Spencer salesclerk says, even as he manages to be as cool and crisp as the fall weather with old-school New Balance kicks, rolled-up, fitted Levis jeans and a soft, beige Uniqlo sweater. His dark blue Oliver Spencer knit scarf ties his cozy autumn look together.

This carpenter isn’t afraid of getting dirty, and has the heavy-duty, utilitarian Carhart work pants to prove it. “My look is thrown together and in a rush,” he says.“I rarely buy anything new.” But adding some flair to this practical work-look is his bright red, authentic 1950s Boy Scout jacket, which he buys in bulk wherever he can find one (in this case, at No Relation Vintage; 204 1st Ave; 212-228-5201; www.novintage.wordpress.com). The heavy Vietnam boots and Stetson newsboy cap finish off his old-school but contemporary look.

This self-proclaimed “vintage hound” and vintage collector by occupation knows what she’s doing. The Alexander Wang boots, Marc Jacobs leather bag, Helmut Lang sweater and Perry Ellis vintage sweater coat work together for a slouchily casual, yet of-the-moment, trendy look. Topping it all off with Aviator Ray-Bans gives the ensemble a retro feel.

“My style is pin-up old Hollywood made modern — I’ve never met a polka-dot I didn’t like,” this LA-based designer (www.cultgaia.com) tells us. Her look is completely vintage yet totally timeless, from her Keds sneakers and vintage Reformation skirt to her polka-dotted vintage Krizia blouse, vintage Prada bag, Yves Saint Laurent scarf and leather jacket picked up on a trip to Hong Kong. “I have a specific body type, so I like things high on the waist and with bold prints,” she says.
