Santurce, a new, upandcoming and superartsy area that is flush with galleries, graffiti and hightops, has a vibe that's more Brooklyn grit than Latin grace.

 C787 will hand the floor over to emerging artist Juan Ramon Gutierrez this month. The Stencil Network (Feb. 2March 2) explores new techniques in stencil art on a variety of media.

Hosting a roster of exhibitions, as well as weekly events like open mic nights and poetry slams, this place calls itself a space for "free thought and expression that nurtures souls with funky music." We agree.

Check out Painting...EXPANDED (through July 1), which counters recent claims that painting has become a dead art by exploring the field through a wide range of works in a variety of media.

It's not much to look at, but what it doesn't have in ambience it makes up in delicious, handmade local food, a bustling atmosphere and live music. Don't leave without trying a Piña Colada.
