The über-event convention has inspired a multitude of accompanying not-to-be-missed mini-events.
HERD ABOUT TAMPA BAY
The elephants are coming! As the town is being stampeded by the Republican kind, a herd of fiberglass elephants is also silently debuting in the city this summer to welcome RNC guests to Tampa. The outdoor arts project is a fun, innovative way for local businesses and communities to be involved in the activities by creating the works of art themselves or commissioning them, and features a number of 4'x4' fiberglass elephants that will be on display at various spots throughout the Tampa Bay area.

ELEPHANTS ON PARADE
That herd isn't the only art show in town, though. Colorful works created by Tampa Bay area middle and high school students specifically for the convention will be on display in the Tampa Bay Times Forum as part of the 2012 Republican National Convention Art Competition, the first of its kind.

Unsure of where you are and how to get to Ybor City? Got a hankering for a café con leche but don't know where to go? Help is near, as thousands of volunteers from all over Florida converge to cover more than 7,500 volunteer shifts, donating their time and efforts the week of August 27 in support of the RNC. From greeting guests at the airport and area hotels to helping them navigate the convention area in downtown Tampa, these Faces of Tampa Bay are doing their part to help convention attendees make the most of their time in Tampa and the surrounding areas.
