Maine Event

Portland, ME’s fashion

Portland, ME is not so much known for haute-couture as it is known for hunting couture (think muddy duck boots—see page 56— and camo-colored coarse knit sweaters). As the Women's Department Manager at Urban Outfitters, style-blogger Ashley Jordan (www.ohsweetwilliam.blogspot.com) can't help being stylish. In fact, she's created a look that's all her own, steering clear of mainstream styles and seasonal trends with expiration dates. "I love being able to find pieces that can be right on trend but something no one else will own. To me, the fun is in spending very little but making it look like a whole lot," she says, scouring Portland for local goods, handmade pieces and vintage gems.
